I left a Sheriff's Office for a Municipality and love it. There is much more money to be made at a municipal level with road jobs than there is in the courthouse. The only thing I miss is the Monday-Friday 830-430 hours. In the end the courthouse wasn't for me.

I don't know for sure but I wouldn't doubt it. NJSP have insanely detailed background investigations.

You won't get rich from this job that's for sure. Well, getting rich isn't my objective. Plus, I hope to use the correctional officer position as a means of getting my foot in the door and hopefully moving up the ladder. Being 50 years old and making really good money right now, it's a tough choice...

Received something earlier this month to update my resume. I've since transferred to a great department and won't be pursuing Transit anymore but I know they had at least one go for a psych test today.
