Shortest gap between time of cert and academy start

Post by futurecop » Mon Jan 28, 2019 11:16 am

What is the normal amount of months/weeks before an academy begins, that the appropriate cert is usually sent? Secondly what’s THE SHORTEST gap that is common between a certs arrival and academy start date?

Depends on their need/size of the department. If they're hiring 50, they generally cert 3-4 months before the start of academy. A buddy of mine got certed for a small bergen county town and started acacemy 16 days later, which means he did all the steps within 2 weeks. If they decide last minute they need someone, it can happen.

My agency got someone through the process and into the academy in a week. Timing is always a factor as well as the background of the person.
