Post by Tigre906 » Tue Apr 23, 2019 6:59 pm

Whats up everyone, just got a civil service cert in the mail for camden county pd. Not to familiar with the dept. and would like more info on them.
Morale, pay etc etc.

Heard they have a high turnover rate but would like to hear why. Any info would help!

Morale: Bad.
Pay: Bad.
Experience: Good.

Word of advice, get your cert and leave. It's hands down the easiest academy in the state. Camden County used to have an amazing reputation and it's been tarnished. Good luck.

I have a few friends there, if you want action and experience you'll get it there. Of course a lot of them came back from the Middle East so that's probably a huge factor. Take the cert, do the academy, get some time under your belt and then move on.

I've heard you can surpass the CERT and the Civil Service requirement if you are already PTC certified. Anyone know if this is true?

Are you referring a lateral transfer?

Negative, I was told you could apply if fully certified and skip civil service process. Just was curious if anyone else went this route

I am almost 99% certain that is not possible. What would be the point of civil service exam and the list if everyone could just apply to a civil service department?

Then again were talking about Camden County... they may do things... unconventional.

I use to work there, a lot of actions from SLEO II to Full time, you will be in foot chases, vehicle pursuit, gun calls, homicides ect.... Good place to learn and gain experiences, few specialized units. Spent 3 1/2 years there I’d be lying if I say I didn’t like it. Yes there are few issues. It may have bad turn over. But wearing that patch will get you the respect and “wow you work in Camden?” Lol. Please feel free to PM me if anything.
