If you have a full police certification (not a Class 2) then you will be able to apply. You would be brought in as a waiver and attend a couple of classes at the academy per whatever the PTC says you need to complete. No idea how many they are looking to hire.

Avaric3 is correct. PFRS (though if you're over 35 you'll be in PERS), on duty and off duty carry, statewide jurisdiction.

I will say, in the distant past that might have been the case, but for the past decade it has not. Not saying retired law enforcement doesn't get hired, but it's not majority of hires.

Clearly this person is not in the know. 8 recruits in the academy now who weren't Troopers or FBI.

As for non-ptc, they hire from all types of backgrounds so you have a reasonable chance all things considered.

Offices throughout the State. People are assigned to other agencies so there is a chance that you wind up in an office that isn't DCJ. That said, statewide agency so your unit might not necessarily align with where you live. Some effort might be made to get you close to home, but end of the day some...

If you aren't currently a police officer, need a Bachelor's degree and it can be in anything. If you are currently a police officer no degree required.

Contract in currently in negotiation. There are Detective Trainees, 1 and 2. Top out for a 1 is 79/80 top out for a 2 is 91/93. There is no path from a one to a two.
