Yeah that sounds like something they would do for people coming a long distance. I was an hour and 45 minutes away which would have been a nightmare of a commute if I couldn't live on base.

LOL fair enough, though it's vastly different living there under DCJ vs DOC. But on another note, with COVID, I don't know if they're still allowing recruits to stay there.

It's a great foot in the door and you'll get a lot of experience quick. Most of the guys I know either use it as a springboard to go elsewhere or will be there for life (one did three tours in the Middle East if that's any indication).

To start the process or get hired? Typically two to three months for the process so probably March for July/August.

Psych and then a hire date. You'll know what unit you'll be going to when hired.
