Re: Is it worth it being a CO NJDOC Feedback please

Hello Law enforcement family. I am wondering, what are some of the opportunities/benefits that open up when you complete one or 2 years of service as a CO Or even holding a different position within the DOC. I am considering leaving my job for a brighter future with the DOC even if I am taken a 40%...

Re: State corrections Salary/ compensation

I would be shocked if the state accepted that. That 15k-20k one time will be shot down and the state will come back with a 0,0,1,1 offer with CWA medical. PBA will turn it down and then you'll go to arbitration where you will get 0's.

Re: State corrections Salary/ compensation

blueline do you get a chance at all shifts during those two week? 1st? 2nd? 3rd? First and second, no third shift. Third shift doesn't do anything, you'll figure it out when you get stuck for a double onto third shift all the time. It's hard to explain but you get called for overtime based off how ...

Thanks BlueLine. I was also wondering what is exactly is the 2 week in service training after the academy? what does it involve?
Shadowing a CO for two weeks. Once you do those two weeks you’re thrown to the wolves more or less.

Re: State corrections Salary/ compensation

I have a question. I have heard rookies have to do the 2pm to 10pm shift for a year. Are there possibilities for shift bidding and days off bidding after a year? You can bid after your first year. I can almost guarantee you that you won't win a bid on first with anything less than 5 years on the jo...

Re: State corrections Salary/ compensation

Question, when you get out of the academy are you allowed to do the working 2 16 hour shifts and an 8 hour shift to get 4 days off right away ? Or do you have to wait a certain amount of time ? When I was DOC I had to wait six months after I graduated to do recips, I could only do it with other roo...

You are paid $33,000 while you are in the academy for 16 weeks. Once you graduate you immediately go to $40,000. Every year from then on, you will receive a step increase on the date of your academy graduation.
