Re: Division of Criminal Justice Hiring

I am in the same boat. Does anyone know the process for certified LEO? Also, do we get to know which bureau we would work before the academy? Same process. You’d just attend the waiver courses for the academy instead of the full course with pt and all the fun recruit stuff. The guys in my class kne...

Re: Division of Criminal Justice Hiring

I know, but as for if you're going this class has anyone gotten a definite answer? Depends on your agency. Some won’t tell you until a week beforehand. Some will give you months notice 🤷🏻‍♂️ DCJ will do your whole background and everything within a week or 2 prior to the academy and still send you?...

Hey guys, I’m thinking of taking a couple of private lessons at a range before the academy. What kind of shotgun and handgun is used in the DCJ Parole academy?
There is no shotgun used and handgun is dependent on what agency sends you. For the sake of Parole though, it’s a Glock 19 4th gen

Your insubordination charge with the NJ DOC might.
Ha I’m not the only one that remembers this. Def could screw up chances at future employment. The fact that you are continually dissatisfied with your employer doesn’t look good either because departments read around here

Re: Handing in cover letter/ resume

Doesn’t hurt to show up in proper attire to talk about the job and hiring process while having those documents ready with you.

thank you for responding. Can you get picked up by a civil service town if you get fired?
Not sure on that but I’d imagine being fired is a black mark on your background that a potential employer (another PD) could NOT hire you for if you still were to even go on the RICE list

I was informed they could be reaching out to candidates by February. DCJ apparently gets a lot of applicants but is a department that is constantly hiring. I have my fingers crossed.
That’s because a lot of detectives get experience there then bounce to a prosecutor’s office that pays more

Re: Resigning from your department?

Guys quick question. If you resign from your civil service department are you eligible to get picked by another civil service department? Or do you have to get fired/layed off? Laid off. Resigning just means you don’t have a job now. If you’re in a civil service agency, you can at least IGT to anot...
