Re: Division of Criminal Justice Hiring

I don’t even understand what the position is. Are you still a law enforcement officer? Does this carry into your pension? What do you actually do? I’m sorry I’m just confused by the posting. You're a detective for the state, so you’re law enforcement and yes, you’re in PFRS. You investigate crimes ...

Re: Division of Criminal Justice Hiring

Does anyone know if their offices are strictly in Trenton? I am non PTC and interested in applying, however, I live in Northern New Jersey. Any information on location and chances of hiring non PTC would be appreciated! There is also at least a Whippany office in Morris County. Can’t recall where t...

is it possible to transfer over the passaic county sheriffs from a municipal police department?
Yes, assuming you also work for a civil service agency but you’d need your chief to sign off on it

Re: Police Officer Recruit Human Services

You only need permission for an intergovernmental transfer. You don’t need permission if you’re responding to a cert and going through the hiring process as everyone else would that isn’t already holding a class a cert

Re: Sheriff’s department vs municipal

You would no longer have civil service protection and also wouldn’t ever be able to get promoted beyond investigator since all other job titles are civil service. You’re also hired at will of the current sheriff so you can get canned if a new sheriff comes and feels like hiring his next of kin or so...

Is this test the same as the civil service if you paid for it separately? Personally questions and that’s it?
Same exact. You’ll only sit for the test once and the score will count for the Parole test and the LEE.
