Rutgers PD 2019 Process

Post by bluenote » Thu Dec 05, 2019 1:23 pm

So as I learned from reading all the previous RU PD posts I gained knowledge to see that everyone seems to have been in the same issues.

My story: First I would like to say hello to all and it's a pleasure to be a new member in this forum.

In Sept. had a community oral board with 2 civilian and 2 patrol Officers for my first interview in Newark. It went well as I was very detailed and articulate with my responses. After the interview ended, I received an email 4 hours after I left that I would be moving forward to the supervisory oral board next week.

The interview went great in my eyes, they referred to how well I performed in the first interview and asked me basically the same kind of questions. After the supervisory oral board was over, they asked me if I had any questions. I said yes indeed I do and pulled out typed up questions out of my folder (only gave them 5) and they were highly impressed. I even noticed they picked up their pens to write more while I was asking them. The LT. In the middle stated," I felt like I was on the interview, I started to sweat. I like you". To end the story I shook their hands while l looking them in their eyes.

(Here's where my question will start to form).
The supervisory board still have not gotten back to me till this date. My cop buddy that has been through the process told me that the 2nd oral would be the deciding factor if I gotten the job. in October I sent an email thanking them for the interview and they responded 2 days later stating ,"the email has been received, the process is still on going, you'll receive notice for any updates" I'm starting to wonder if I didn't do such a great job for this one. Only because the Community Oral responded so swiftly after I finished.

Do any of you think I'm still a valid candidate in the process? I would like some input if any can be received. Thanks again for reading my similar situation!

What do you mean trying too hard? The interview or my post? If so the second, I was trying to paint a vivid picture to prevent any questions I could skip answering. Any insight beyond what you wrote would be greatly appreciated.

They said they would contact you. They are going to contact you. These things take a while. Relax and don't reach out to them.

They have people in the academy , if they choose to hire more and your in their list they’ll reach out to you . You can do really well and still not get picked up .

Best you learn now that everything in law enforcement moves slow. Keep running and working out so that when the time comes you're ready to go.

I moved on to the 3rd interview in October with the chiefs and the chief told me at the end of it I did a nice job. Even I still haven’t heard anything. You have to be patient with all hiring process it’s very slow

Patience isn't a problem for me, it's a better feeling to listen to other stories that have progressed so I have some vision through the "hiring" smoke. That's great that you moved to the Chief's interview. If you can say, when did you have your 2nd interview and how was the Chief's interview conducted? PM me if that's easier.
