Newark or EO PD

Post by frankthetank » Thu May 30, 2019 10:18 am

Anyone have an opinion of which is better for a police officer? Salary, work conditions, scheduling, ect?

You'll make more $$ in Newark and there is more room for advancement there.

EO is micromanaged, schedule is 4on 2 off... 3 shifts 8a-4p...4p-12a...12a-8a..., salary top right now is 83k in 6 steps(currently in negotiations) revolving door for officers leaving to other departments due to morale being low.

Anyone have an idea when the negotiations are going to be over? I heard a new schedule of 4 on 4 off or 4 on 3 off.

If you dont hear back from a BG investigator but others have and already have medical dates, do you think that means that your out of the process?

I may be wrong but I’ve heard that EO is about to sign a new contract. Possibly 5-6 steps to 105,000. But no word on a 4-3 or 4-4 Schedule yet.

Do you now have to live in Newark to become a Newark cop? I read that on line? Or do they go out of town to hire as well?

They hire out of town hires once they exhaust the entire resident list which they always do. After that they go to the county list
