Post by futurecop »

Have any of you guys worked both county sheriffs and municipal? Which do you prefer? And what are the major differences?

I left a Sheriff's Office for a Municipality and love it. There is much more money to be made at a municipal level with road jobs than there is in the courthouse. The only thing I miss is the Monday-Friday 830-430 hours. In the end the courthouse wasn't for me.

Really giants12?? I would believe it but most people love the dept that I have come across. I myself said I can’t stand in a courthouse all day they look so darn bored! Score so high and seems dry and uninteresting .(no offense to anyone)

It was more like a security gig than policing. Your day was unlocking the door, sitting in the corner and calling over the radio for an inmate to be brought up for their hearing. Staying awake/off your phone was the hardest part. Some days you might be a floater to cover breaks or calls for someone turning themselves in for a child support warrant but other than that it was an extremely boring job.

Controlled climate. Other than that no, I have much more freedom and more time off with the pitman schedule on patrol. If you have any questions on specifics PM me.
