So the physical training will be the only thing done in person and academics done remotely?patrickdollar19 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 28, 2020 10:41 amYea im sure 97 n up will get u a cert.. I actually know of another Sergeant in my unit who is currently doing the academy for Hudson county Sheriff, But shes doing it online until January.. Its crazy how some sheriff in NJ hires people pretty quick and some takes a long time to even finish the hiring process.. N im not sure if it sucks or its a good thing to do some of your academy classes from home and then go in towards the end of the academy to learn hands on. Cuz thats what really must academy are doing now.. With the covid stuff it might even be the new thing now all across NJ..

It wont matter as much because you can deduct your service time as a police officer. So for example, the cutoff for most municipal PD's is 35 right? Lets say you got hired at 30 and at 7 years in, you get that cert you been waiting for and want to leave your current PD. You would be 37 years old and over the age limit, but you can deduct your service time as a LEO so in the departments eyes you would be 30 years old and still within the age limit.Cityairbender06 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 27, 2020 6:25 pmSo your age doesn't matter once you are in a department and want to switch later on?stickman363 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 27, 2020 4:57 pm My advice to everyone is just get on the job and get your pension started. Whether its DOC, PD, Sheriff's whatever. After a few years of experience you can take the test again and transfer or do whatever. I know a friend from the 2016 LEE test who was waiting for the "right" department and passed on other certs where he probably would've got hired. Long story short, he's still waiting to get on the job and didn't score that well this test cycle, while I have a few years in the pension already.

Yep, pretty much. You'll be surprised though, Clifton PD at like 5 years is at like 50k something like that lol some departments start at 50K+. So I guess it just depends... also seniority too.Cityairbender06 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 29, 2020 5:00 pmThat's dope but will you start your pay scale back at the bottom like brand new rookiesstickman363 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 29, 2020 2:04 amIt wont matter as much because you can deduct your service time as a police officer.
