I wouldn’t defer if I were you. Just because I wouldn’t know which department will certify me down the line. I would just stick to the department that certified you until you get a cert from a different department. From what I’ve read you’re allowed to accept more than one cert at a time. Just make sure you reply to the cert within five days, if you don’t respond they will take you out of the eligible pool for that particular job (in this case police officer).
From what I’ve read before, it does not take you off. I’ve read about people who accept all the certs and just wait until which department hires them first. What’s your score if you don’t mind me asking? It all depends about your score and where you live also. I would hate to decline a cert and then not get a cert from another department down the line.rd589860 wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 7:42 am If you send a letter accepting a cert does that take you off of the the lis for other departments? I don't want to accept a cert for a town and have that disqualify me from getting a cert from others because if i am not chosen then that just delays the process entirely.
99.07 non-vet. I honestly have no idea how any of this process works. I assume the response letter has to be hand written, you wouldn't happen to know that would you?abdiel0424 wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 9:01 amFrom what I’ve read before, it does not take you off. Nice! If I were you I would respond in a typed format like this...rd589860 wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 9:06 am99.07 non-vet. I honestly have no idea how any of this process works. Try to type it if you can . I type it on my phone and print it out at staples . If can’t type use pen black or blue ink. Pencil is a no go .abdiel0424 wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 8:37 amI’m not really sure, my guess is you would have to do it in pencil
Accepting certs will not impact your eligibility with other hiring agencies. However, not responding to a cert, even if you are not interested COULD remove you from all eligible pools. A lot of times it wont matter if you don’t reply to something but other agencies will remove you from the eligible pool completely for not replying at all. So moral of the story is ALWAYS reply to a cert.rd589860 wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 7:42 am If you send a letter accepting a cert does that take you off of the the list for other departments? Idk where anyone is getting the handwritten thing from. I’ve always replied to certs in a typed up letter and left space for it to be printed and signed by myself at the bottom. I then would mail it in (preferably certified mail that way you can track it and there is evidence you sent something to them in case it is not received)
I always thought that the cert response could be either or, thank you for clearing that up for me!Avaric3 wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 10:01 amAccepting certs will not impact your eligibility with other hiring agencies.
