Post by Jerseyboy94 » Wed Aug 14, 2019 12:57 pm

Just got a cert for this agency. Burlington County and middlesex county locations. Can anyone shine some light on their process also any info on the agency. Pay, steps, training and so on.

Burlington is in Bordentown, a more secure facility relative to the Middlesex county facility in Jamesburg/Monroe which is more of an open campus. Orientation in September, background completed by December, interview in January, psych and medical in February then academy in March for 18 weeks. Pay scale is easily found by looking up pba 105 2015-2019 contract. 10 steps plus recruit step to max at $85k currently. Start is $40k in the academy and $44k after first year

I’m no longer there but morale was low for quite some time due the contract issues with the previous governor freezing the step increases and uniform allowances. It’s been “remedied” now but the contract that would be current is still not settled and it was supposed to start up on July 1st, 2019. As for room for improvement, I assume you mean advancement or lateral moves. There’s opportunities to move into juvenile parole or office of investigations, however, they JUST hired in the current DCJ academy class for both of those positions and it’s the first time they’ve hired those spots in years. Movement within the prisons is constant so you can get a decent bid within a couple years with a piece of the weekend (Friday/Saturday or Sunday/Monday off). There’s a good amount of OT, I used to CONSISTENTLY work 24 hours a pay period (every two weeks) with a bit more if I really wanted
