Ok thank you because some places say you have to take civil service but then I have heard that they select sleo2 and waive them.
I mean they are correct in saying that you have to be on their civil service list to be hired and then waived. They won't just pick you up off the street because you're a 2.

Yes they will hire you class 2 officers can become Sheriff's investigator which is a full time non civil service position.

Oh wow wasn’t aware of that thank you.
Not all sheriff’s offices do that and even the ones that do, you’re still not getting hired as a sheriff’s investigator unless you know people very high up as they are appointed by the sheriff. People need to remember that possible and plausible are completely different when giving advice.
